Richmond, VA — November 2025 - Virginia LULAC is proud to share an analysis from Politica, a Virginia-based political data and analysis firm, to present the following insights from the 2025 Virginia gubernatorial election. From their findings, we derive key takeaways focused on Latino communities across the Commonwealth. We hope this information brings rigorous, data-driven analysis to inform policy, outreach, and community engagement.

What the Data from Politica Shows
The 2025 gubernatorial election marks a clear turning point in Virginia’s political landscape. Democrat Abigail Spanberger’s decisive victory (57%–42%) highlights a state shaped increasingly by education, suburban values, and demographic diversity.
Among the key findings:
Latino voters supported Spanberger by approximately 63%, with the majority affirming our growing impact while also showing room for deeper engagement.
Younger and more diverse voters expanded turnout margins, signaling that the Commonwealth’s future belongs to inclusive coalitions.
Suburban communities — including in Northern Virginia, Richmond, and Tidewater — continue to drive the state’s civic and electoral balance.
These shifts confirm that multilingual, multicultural outreach and attention to everyday issues — housing, education, and cost of living — are defining the new political center of Virginia.
What This Means for the Latino Community
Latinos are not only participating — we are shaping Virginia’s direction. But we must build on this momentum. The data makes one thing clear: our voice is strongest when we organize year-round, in every region, and in every language.
This is a call to action for Virginia LULAC and all community partners to expand our reach — not just during elections, but through continuous civic presence.
What We Are Going to Do
At Virginia LULAC, we are using this analysis as a roadmap for impact. We will:
Expand grassroots engagement through local listening sessions and “Courageous Conversations” on housing, education, economic mobility, and more.
Connect families and community members with everyday-life programs - partnering with nonprofits to guide people to the right resources like rental assistance and tenants’ rights help, legal aid, community health clinics, food and childcare support, workforce training, ESL/citizenship classes, and small-business services to name some.
Build partnerships with local governments and nonprofits to advance equitable policies in schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods.
Empower young Latino leaders to step into civic leadership roles — commissions, advisory boards, and local campaigns.
This is not about one election. It’s about building the Virginia we deserve — inclusive, data-driven, and rooted in dignity and opportunity.
About This Effort
Virginia LULAC remains committed to leveraging research like Politica’s to advance informed, community-based advocacy. Our mission is clear: to advance the economic, educational, political, housing, health, and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs. We will do so through data into action, analysis into equity, and engagement into lasting change.
Together, we will continue to move Virginia forward — one conversation, one voter, and one community at a time.
