Virginia LULAC Scholarships

Virginia LULAC believes that education is one of the most powerful investments a person can make in themselves, their family, and their community. Since its founding, LULAC has championed educational opportunity because it understands that access to education leads to greater economic mobility, stronger families, and a more prosperous society. Nationally, LULAC has supported scholarships, workforce development, career training, and educational advancement for decades, recognizing that learning does not end after high school and that there are many pathways to achieving the American Dream.

 

Building upon that legacy, Virginia LULAC is proud to establish the Virginia LULAC Economic Education Success Scholarship, a scholarship specifically designed to help members of Virginia's Latino community advance their careers through education and workforce training. While traditional four-year college degrees remain an important avenue toward economic advancement, they are not the only path to success. Today's economy offers countless opportunities through skilled trades, technical education, apprenticeships, professional certifications, associate degrees, community colleges, and other workforce development programs that provide valuable, high-paying careers and long-term financial stability.

 

The Virginia LULAC Economic Education Success Scholarship was created to remove financial barriers that often prevent talented and hardworking individuals from pursuing these opportunities. Scholarship recipients will be awarded to help cover tuition, certification costs, licensing fees  associated with approved certificate or degree programs. Eligible fields may include, but are not limited to, construction, plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, welding, commercial driving, healthcare professions, information technology, cybersecurity, business, manufacturing, education, public safety, and other occupations that contribute to Virginia's growing economy.

 

What makes this scholarship unique is its commitment to serving both traditional students and working adults. Too often, scholarship opportunities are focused almost exclusively on recent high school graduates or undergraduate students. Yet countless Latino parents, caregivers, immigrants, and working professionals aspire to return to school, earn a certification, change careers, or gain new skills that will allow them to provide greater financial security for their families. Virginia LULAC believes these individuals deserve the same opportunity to pursue their educational goals and invest in their future.

 

The scholarship reflects Virginia LULAC's belief that strengthening individual economic opportunity ultimately strengthens entire families and communities. When people gain access to quality education, better-paying careers, and professional advancement, they create generational benefits that extend far beyond themselves.
